In our newest Hour of Code™ course, Claire the Cat has a book reading coming up, but she needs help finishing her memoir. You’ll use Ruby to build a Mad Lib-style program and finish Claire’s story in time for the big reading!
What is Ruby?
Ruby is a popular, general-purpose programming language, created in the mid-1990s by Yukihiro Matsumoto. Ruby is a great programming language for beginners—it’s simple, reads like English, and best of all, Matsumoto designed it with the goal of making programming fun.
Ruby is also an in-demand language in the professional world. It’s the basis for the popular web development framework Ruby on Rails, used by many different companies, including Github, Twitch, and here at Tech Rocket.
